St Marys is the largest of the Island and has about 11 miles of road, Hugh town on St marys is the Capital of Scilly with a supermarket a handful of pubs and several banks! Tresco is the second largest island and is famous for 'The Tresco Abbey Gardens' a huge collection of tropical plants and trees, within the ruins of an old abbey. Samson is the largest of the unihabited Islands along with Gugh and St Helens. The Scillies are renowned for their natural beauty and exotic fauna and exceptionally warm climate. The scilly isles have many fine beaches of very white sand, giving an aquamarine colour to the sea and making them look like the tropical beaches of caribbean. The Scilly isles are a notoriusly dangerous area for shipping and have historically had many ship wrecks. Bishop rock light house stands on the southwest edge of the scillies and forms the last part of England before America.
